Existenzielle Verunsicherung – der demokratische, sozialeund wehrhafte Rechtsstaat als eine der Antworten

Abstract

The Covid 19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine have created a sense of existential uncertainty in societies. Since World War II, existential crises - such as a serious illness or death - confronted people more individually. Since a long time people have tried to contain the uncertainty of human existence. At the collective level, societies have done this with the primacy of law over arbitrariness, with the balance of powers, with democratic decision-making structures, with institutions of social security and as a defence-based democracy. The ability to accept reality and make provisions accordingly is crucial. This has been confirmed in dealing with the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
