Abstract

The rise in livestreaming is the most recent form of the digitization of music. In terms of supply and demand, live performance is becoming increasingly important for this industry. Livestreaming allows consumption to be independent from the constraints due to the distance from the theater, to the size of the theater, to the ticket availability and to the ticket price. We suggest that concerts and streaming are complements in demand. We emphasize the risk of a late investment in this industry while early and big firms develop their own supply. We suggest the importance of public support in order to give birth to diversity in supply, taking into account that the economic model of this activity is not yet clearly defined.
