Más allá de la solidaridad virtual: el uso de las tecnologías digitales de la comunicación en el movimiento antirrepresivo de Extremadura, España

Abstract

Este artículo explora los usos de las tecnologías digitales de la comunicación en un movimiento social que normativamente cuestiona la legitimidad de los procesos de protesta desarrollados en el espacio digital. A través de una etnografía realizada en distintas ciudades del suroeste de España entre los años 2018 y 2020, este texto analiza los usos de las tecnologías digitales en la Asamblea Antirrepresiva de Extremadura, un colectivo político que surge en el año 2018 en Cáceres (España), en respuesta al contexto de amenazas a la libertad de expresión con el que los activistas identifican diferentes acciones judiciales y policiales. El texto muestra que en este movimiento la legitimidad en los usos de las tecnologías digitales se modula según su adecuación a las convenciones que ordenan las prácticas en el espacio público, y a su capacidad para hacer circular objetos que generen nuevas expresiones públicas. La etnografía evidencia que estos usos tienden a reafirmar a los activistas que demuestran una mayor iniciativa, lo que cuestiona aquellos enfoques que sostienen que las tecnologías digitales conducen a formas de participación más “horizontales”.
