Autonomía indígena y defensa del territorio en la Sierra Sur de Oaxaca

Abstract

En México, los pueblos indígenas han pugnado históricamente por su derecho a ejercer el autogobierno como forma de preservar su existencia. Este reclamo cobra mayor relevancia ante la dinámica de despojo que ha adoptado el sistema capitalista, pues gran parte de los recursos naturales explotables se encuentra en aquellos territorios que han ocupado las comunidades indígenas. A partir del caso de una organización, en la sierra sur de Oaxaca, mostraremos cómo la demanda autonomista se ha convertido en una estrategia de defensa del territorio mostrando los principales retos y contradicciones en un escenario de creciente despojo y violencia.
