Abstract

Los países en desarrollo y menos adelantados representan las dos terceras partes de los Miembros de la Organización Mundial del Comercio. La cuestión del desarrollo forma parte de las reglas multilaterales acordadas en 1995 al concluir la Ronda Uruguay. En el año 2001, en Doha, se acordó que el tema del desarrollo sería el eje del programa del trabajo. Desde entonces y más recientemente, en julio de 2008, nuevamente las posiciones diferentes entre los Miembros en torno a las negociaciones en agricultura y en acceso a mercados de productos no agrícolas, pusieron en evidencia la necesidad de encontrar mecanismos adecuados que consagren reglas más equitativas de comercio.
