Los retos, dificultades y amenazas que ha enfrentado la libertad económica en América latina

Abstract

Hoy, países de Europa Oriental y Central, de América Latina y de otras partes, tratan de alcanzar al mismo tiempo, con diferentes grados de éxito, tanto la democracia como la libertad económica. En algunos casos, se ha frenado la libertad económica o ya no tiene prioridad, un gran retroceso para la democracia. Así pues, este trabajo se orienta a analizar el contexto de la libertad económica en América Latina, a partir de la segunda mitad del decenio de 1990 hasta la actualidad, no sin antes hacer una retrospectiva de dicho contexto en épocas anteriores. Particularmente se dirige al estudio de aquellos países en donde la libertad económica se ha incrementado: Chile, Colombia, México, Perú, Costa Rica y Brasil; así como de aquellos en donde ha experimentado un notable deterioro: Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Nicaragua y Argentina.
