Abstract

This paper analyses some specific issues about the auditing of electronic auction systems. Communication within the Internet online auction systems generally takes place without users being in physical contact or knowing anything about each other. Therefore, they have to rely upon that mechanisms implemented within these online systems: reputation systems. Most of these mechanisms are based on the creation of a trustworthy environment, with the help of additional attributes associated with users and their roles. These attributes are constructed based upon previous transactions or recommendations (positive or negative comments about such transactions). In this paper, we have focused on analysis of some elements of online auction systems which are specific and important when auditing these systems. The creation of trust in the online auction environment is the basis for proper functioning of these environments.
