Abstract

Technological innovation has been for many years an important vector of transformation in the world economic reality. Considered an important instru-ment of change and mainly of advance to technological levels (of products and processes) never reached before. On this approach, the theoretical framework will be used to explain the phenomenon of innovation in a broad sense (global innovation) and in the strict sense (the Brazilian case of innovation). In addition, with the aid of the data provided by the Innovation Research – Pintec (2011), an econometric model will be developed that portrays the innovative reality of the Transformation Industry according to its main explanatory variables. The results obtained by the Pintec raw data analysis and the developed econometric model show the great influence of the size of the company and the force that it uses in the innovative activities to increase its performance against the others, besides the great challenges in the application of innovation Of the main sectors of the national economy.
