Igualdad de género y sociedad del cuidado

Abstract

En este artículo se hace una revisión de los aportes conceptuales de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL) a la comprensión de las desigualdades de género en América Latina y el Caribe en las últimas décadas. A través del examen de la información disponible se analiza la persistencia de la división sexual del trabajo como nudo estructural de la desigualdad de género y posteriormente se presenta la propuesta de la CEPAL de avanzar hacia un nuevo modelo de desarrollo y de organización de la sociedad —la sociedad del cuidado—, así como sus implicaciones para el diseño de las políticas públicas en la región.
