Abstract

In dieser Studie werden die Anreize für Innovationsaktivitäten von Firmen mit beschränkter und unbeschränkter Haftung untersucht. Innovationen sind mit einem gewissen Risiko behaftet. Firmeneigner können ihr persönliches Risiko jedoch begrenzen, wenn das Unternehmen eine Rechstform mit Haftungsbeschränkung hat. Andererseits können bei begrenzter Haftung Schwierigkeiten bei der Kapitalbeschaffung auftreten. Die vorliegende Arbeit diskutiert diese Themen zunächst theoretisch und präsentiert anschließend empirische Ergebnisse zu Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaktivitäten sowie zu Sachanlageinvestitionen. Es stellt sich heraus, dass Firmen mit beschränkter Haftung mehr Forschung und Entwicklung betreiben als andere Unternehmen. Auf die Investitionen in Sachanlagen hat die Rechtsform keine Auswirkung.
