Forschung und Entwicklung in Staat und Wirtschaft

Abstract

In dieser Kurzstudie zu Forschung und Entwicklung (FuE) in Staat und Wirtschaft werden ausgewählte Kernindikatoren aktualisiert und analysiert. Im Fokus stehen Indikatoren zur Position Deutschlands im internationalen FuE-Wettbewerb und Kennzahlen zur sektoralen und regionalen Verteilung der FuE-Kapazitäten in Deutschland. Generell haben die FuE-Anstrengungen im internationalen Raum in den vergangenen Jahren deutlich zugenommen. Mit einem Anteil der Bruttoinlandsaufwendungen für FuE am Bruttoinlandsprodukt von 3,2 Prozent im Jahr 2019 hat Deutschland seine Position im internationalen FuE-Wettbewerb weiter gestärkt. Hierzu haben steigende FuE-Aufwendungen und weiterwachsende FuE-Personalkapazitäten in der Wirtschaft und in staatlich geförderten FuE-Einrichtungen beigetragen. Der FuE-Schwerpunkt der deutschen Wirtschaft liegt traditionell im Bereich der Hochwertigen Technik, dominiert vom Automobilbau. Zuletzt haben zur Spitzentechnologie zählende Wirtschaftszweige wie der Luft- und Raumfahrzeugbau, die Pharmazeutische Industrie und die Hersteller von Datenverarbeitungsgeräten, elektronischen und optischen Erzeugnissen ihre FuE-Aufwendungen überdurchschnittlich ausgeweitet. Die regionale Verteilung von FuE in Deutschland ist stabil mit Schwerpunkten in südwestlichen Bundesländern.
