Freie ForscherInnen statt Low Budget Academics. Entwicklung eines Berufsbildes „Freie ForscherIn“ an der Schnittstelle zwischen Universität und Gestaltungsöffentlichkeit (Markt, Status, Infrastruktur)

Abstract

Die vorliegende Expertise lotet die Möglichkeiten freier Forschungsarbeit für Geisteswissenschaftler-Innen aus. Die Analyse konzentriert sich auf die drei Themenfelder Sichtbarkeit/Status, Infrastruktur, Markt, die eng miteinander verwoben sind. Auf dem Weg zur Wissensgesellschaft stellt freie (geisteswissenschaftliche) Forschungsarbeit nicht nur einen neuen Markt dar, sie ist auch integraler Bestandteil dieser gesellschaftlichen Transformation. Als wichtige Wissensdienstleistung kann sie das bestehende Wissenschaftssystem unterstützen und entlasten, aber auch einen Beitrag zur Qualifizierung der Wissensproduktion privatwirtschaftlicher Dienstleister bieten. Das Szenario des (Berufs-)bildes „Freie ForscherIn“ zeigt daher Möglichkeiten auf, Sichtbarkeit/Status und Infrastruktur für freie Forschungsarbeit zu etablieren sowie Marktchancen zu identifizieren. Ein wichtiges Anliegen ist es dabei, freie Forschungsarbeit als wissensgenerierende und wissensintensive Dienstleistung zu charakterisieren und ihre Instrumente - marktfähige Forschungsformate - zu spezifizieren.
