Abstract

Besides examining concepts such as distribution and inequality the paper presents four of the most common graphical tools used to represent inequality in a distribution, to wit, the graph of the Pen´s Parade - usually built from quantile curves - the Lorenz curve, the generalized Lorenz curve and the concentration curve. In addition, the formal notation of these curves is presented and literature that allows further studies is suggested. As the purpose of the texts is didactic, the paper attempts to use a gradual and intuitive exposition of its contents.
