Investigación y Desarrollo, Innovación y Productividad: un análisis econométrico a nivel de la firma

Abstract

El principal objetivo de este trabajo ha sido analizar los principales determinantes de las actividades innovativas en la industria manufacturera chilena durante la segunda mitad de los años noventa. Los resultados confirman las principales hipótesis acerca de la importancia del tamaño de la firma, de los niveles de gasto en investigación y desarrollo como también aspectos relacionados con el ambiente donde se desenvuelve la firma sobre su dinámica innovativa. Por otra parte, la evidencia sugiere que la productividad a nivel de la firma está positivamente correlacionada con una mayor intensidad innovadora y que dicho impacto ha sido creciente en el tiempo. Con respecto al apoyo público, los resultados muestran que los mecanismos de financiamiento implementados han sido eficaces pues han inducido un mayor nivel de actividad innovativa y su consecuente impacto sobre productividad y también eficientes, ya que las firmas beneficiarias de dicho apoyo han sido aquellas que presentan un mayor potencial de aprovechamiento de dicha ayuda
