The Memberships Theory of Inequality: Ideas and Implications

Abstract

This paper argues that much of the recent economic research on inequality contains a common set of underlying ideas which in term represents a general framework for analysis. The new perspective emphasizes the role of an array of group-level influences in determining individual socioeconomic outcomes.
