Abstract

Excerpts from the report: This publication is part of an overall program by the Agricultural Research Service to provide technical assistance to shippers and carriers in an effort to help increase U.S. agricultural exports. European transport equipment and regulations governing its use are often different from those in the United States. Shippers and carriers should be aware of these differences so their exports will (1) be properly packaged; (2) have adequate refrigeration; (3) be correctly routed : (4) receive special services, if needed; and (5) be of an acceptable load size and weight. The information contained in this bulletin is intended as a guide for shippers and carriers to alert, them to specific problem areas. The information should be updated periodically to comply with frequent changes in foreign regulations as they occur. Shippers should always verify regulations applicable to specific destinations with their ocean carrier.
