Abstract

----- Distributions of total sugars and organic acids in sugar cane stalk of variety Β 478258 harvested in Guadeloupe were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Variety influence on cane juice composition, HPLC utilization compared to Brix and Pol in sugar factory, and HPCL process control in rum factory were also studied. The method proposed (sampling and HPCL analysis) is of great interest in studies of physiological behaviour of sugar cane or in raw matter quality and industrial process control (sugar or rum production).
