Lohnquoten und Lohnstückkosten in Hochinflationsphasen

Abstract

Lockdowns zum Schutz gegen die Corona-Pandemie, Lieferkettenprobleme und massive Preiserhöhungen besonders von Energie haben zu multiplen Belastungen geführt. Dies ist verbunden mit einem zunehmenden Fachkräfteengpass, hohen Lohnforderungen und ebensolchen Lohnabschlüssen. Damit gibt es einige Parallelen zu Anfang der 1970er Jahre (IW-Trends, 1974). Damals folgte auf eine lange Phase mit starkem Wachstum bei Vollbeschäftigung ebenfalls eine hochinflationäre Phase. Dies begann schon vor der ersten Ölpreiskrise, wurde durch sie aber erheblich befeuert. Begleitet wurde dies durch eine sehr expansive Lohnpolitik, die im Konflikt mit der Geldpolitik stand. Nach hartem Eingreifen der Deutschen Bundesbank kam es schließlich Mitte der 1970er Jahre zu einer Anpassungsrezession (Obst/Stockhausen, 2024). In dem folgenden Beitrag wird untersucht, wie sich die Löhne und die Produktivität in dieser Phase entwickelt haben, welchen Verlauf die Kosten- Wettbewerbsfähigkeit genommen hat und welche Lehren daraus für die aktuelle Situation gezogen werden können.
