Abstract

The article presents a number of reflections about Principi di Scienza delle finanze by Francesco Saverio Nitti via a comparison between the different editions of the book. Nitti deemed it necessary to have a realistic view of the economic theory, and believed in a theoretical approach which considers the particular distribution of resources in the economy. This conviction was probably reinforced by the measures he adopted as Prime Minister, since in the last edition of his work he added a chapter dedicated to the analysis of the main taxation measures adopted by his government and by the following Giolitti’s government
