Abstract

(VA)This article is aimed at contributing to the understanding of the mechanisms whereby a new technology is progressively adopted, or rejected, by a business area. The study is about the home video industry, which has undergone many upheavals owing to the introduction of digital technologies. While using the concept of organizational field, we are trying to understand how rules that have been collectively developed could have been questioned and renewed. Significant points and strategies that have been developed are discussed at the end of the article. This discussion is based on the model of institutional change proposed by Greenwood & al. (2002).
