RePEc step-by-step tutorial

Preparing your anonymous ftp server for RePEc

You have an anonymous ftp server. Note that password protected access to your metadata is not feasible, so we require anonymous access. Ftp servers are usually all ready to go, but you must make sure that certain things are enabled: Directory listings must be enabled, the so-called -Lrat switch. Also, they should be configured to generate Unix style directory listings. On Microsoft servers, which generate DOS style directory listings as default, this can be changed using Management Console. The setting is in the Home Directory tab for the FTP server. For more questions regarding ftp servers, see this FAQ.
