Abstract

Aujourd’hui, pense-t-on, le capitalisme a triomphé du socialisme. C’est peut être vrai et l’histoire tranchera. Mais on ne peut en aucune manière affirmer qu’il a triomphé de la démocratie, c’est-à-dire d’une recherche incessante de formes supérieures de contrat social. La conception toute libérale de l’avenir semble de fait être fondée sur un contresens. C’est parce qu’on ne fait pas le bonheur des gens malgré eux que les régimes communistes se sont effondrés à l’Est. Cet effondrement est donc une victoire de la démocratie, plutôt que de l’économie de marché. [Premier paragraphe]
