Medición cuantitativa del subregistro de nacimientos e indocumentación: Costos socioeconómicos en Perú y República Dominicana

La indocumentación y el subregistro presentan un desafío para las posibilidades de desarrollo con inclusión social en América Latina. Usando datos de la Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud (ENDES) en Perú (2008) y en República Dominicana (2007), este estudio elabora una caracterización de este grave problema para los hogares y los individuos. Se descubrió que el subregistro de los menores afecta sobre todo a los hogares rurales con bajos niveles de ingreso donde el jefe de hogar tiene un bajo nivel educativo y no está documentado. Por otro lado, la incidencia de la indocumentación es mayor entre adultos jóvenes y con menor nivel de escolarización. Finalmente, existe una correlación entre la indocumentación y los menores niveles de acceso a bienes, servicios y programas públicos.
