Jóvenes en Colombia: un análisis descriptivo sobre sus decisiones de estudio y trabajo

Abstract

Resumen Este trabajo busca caracterizar algunos de los determinantes de las decisiones de los jóvenes de un análisis descriptivo y la estimación de un modelo logit multinomial, usando los datos de la Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares de Colombia para 2015 a 2018. Los resultados encontrados muestran importantes diferencias entre jóvenes hombres y mujeres, y jóvenes rurales y urbanos. Para el caso de los jóvenes Ninis, 25 % de las mujeres son Ninis, mientras solo un 8 % de los hombres lo es. En áreas urbanas 14 % de los jóvenes son Ninis, frente a 26 % en áreas rurales. Dentro de los determinantes de las decisiones de los jóvenes respecto a estudiar y/o trabajar, se encuentra que la existencia de menores de 5 anos en el hogar, así como el hecho de ser casado o en unión libre, son factores particularmente importantes y desfavorables para las decisiones de las mujeres.
