  • Miguel Carreras
Registered author(s):

    La guerra de 1898 con España y la intervención norteamericana en Cuba marcan el comienzo de una política más activa de los Estados Unidas hacia América Latina que algunos autores califican de imperialista. Este expansionismo norteamericano a sucitado un debate historiográfico interesante. En este ensayo, el autor revisa las principales explicaciones que proveyó la historiografía norteamericana, a través de los autores emblemáticos de las diferentes corrientes. Cada una enfatiza uno de los aspectos del expansionismo norteamericano (factores geográficos, factores económicos o los ideológicos). Para terminar, preconiza un acercamiento más comprensivo, y las investigaciones que toman en cuenta las condiciones socio-políticas en América Latina, que también están al origen de este imperialismo norteamericano.
