The Defense Industry of Russia

  • A. V. Sokolov
Registered author(s):

    The processes of converting and restructuring the country's defense industry that began at the end of the 1980s and beginning of the 1990s have turned that once flourishing sector of the economy into a focal point of economic and social problems. The decline that lasted throughout the first half of the 1990s has slowed somewhat since 1996. But can it be said that we have finally reached the bottom, or is this just a stop along a path that could gain new impetus from the events of the August 1998 crisis?
