Concerning Prices, Rates, and Economic Effectiveness
Mathematics is a powerful instrument that is used in the search for optimal solutions to economic problems. The importance of elaborating and introducing economic-mathematical methods has been emphasized in the decree of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union on the development of the social sciences and in recommendations of the all-union conference on improving planning and economic work in our country. At the present time the results of economicmathematical research are being widely used by USSR Gosplan. It is not without reason that a significant place is devoted to these results in the recently published methodological guidelines on the compilation of the national economic plan. (>u>1>/u>) Mathematics and computers are used in the elaboration of plans for the development of many branches and in resolving all manner of economic and technical problems.
