Abstract

Electricity storage is a powerful tool for the system operation when maximizing the integration of renewable energy sources production into the power system. This article gives a review of the main available storage technologies as well as its different functionalities across the power supply chain, especially those linked with system operation. Finally the article discusses about the need to open a debate on storage regulation contributing with some remarks under the prism of maximum security of supply and efficiency for the whole system.
