Quality indicators not only affect to directly assessed teachers (professors), they also show us the desired features of the future university. Deciding the relative consideration that must be given to research and educational activities is the key question, above all when research is measured by a partial indicator. The role that university R+D plays in the innovation process and development of knowledge society is revised. There is a discussion about different quality indicators useful for the assessment of university teachers and their limitations, in special at the field of social sciences, specially economics and business management.
