Strategies in Restructuring: Ways to Create Wealth

Abstract

A decade ago the US had just seen a rage of capital restructuring activity. The idea was to make public companies private, downsize conglomerates through equity restructuring into smaller units and run lean operations, creating substantial shareholder benefit. What are the various types of debt and equity restructuring? What are the reasons why companies restructure? Do these restructurings create more shareholder value or destroy it?
