Rentenrealität von Wien bis Berlin

Abstract

Österreich wird immer wieder als Musterbeispiel eines auskömmlichen Rentensystems in der öffentlichen Debatte in Deutschland angeführt. Wie unterscheidet sich das österreichische Rentensystem vom deutschen hinsichtlich Finanzierung, Leistungsniveau und langfristiger Nachhaltigkeit? Bei Renteneintritt erhält man in Österreich tatsächlich eine höhere Rente in Relation zum vorherigen Arbeitseinkommen. Allerdings wird in Deutschland häufig übersehen, dass die österreichischen Bestandsrenten nur einen Inflationsausgleich vorsehen und nicht mit dem Lohnwachstum ansteigen. Langfristig ist die Finanzierbarkeit des österreichischen Rentensystems wie in Deutschland durch die demografische Entwicklung gefährdet.
