Abwanderung und familiäre Pflege

Nach Angaben des Generations and Gender Surveys wünschen sich mehr als 80 % der über 50-Jährigen in den neuen Ländern bei Hilfe- oder Pflegebedürftigkeit eine Betreuung durch die eigenen Kinder. Dies ist keineswegs reines Wunschdenken, denn tatsächlich spielen die eigenen Kinder bei der Betreuung der Eltern im Alter eine wichtige Rolle. Werden wir uns auch in Zukunft in diesem Umfang auf familiäre Leistungen verlassen können? Zumindest in den neuen Bundesländern ist dies zweifelhaft. Infolge der Abwanderung sind die räumlichen Distanzen zwischen Eltern und Kindern größer geworden, was die innerfamiliäre Betreuung erschweren dürfte. Der Beitrag versucht anhand des Generations and Gender Survey abzuschätzen, wie sich die Entfernungen zwischen den Eltern- und Kindergenerationen in den nächsten Jahren voraussichtlich entwickeln werden.
