Abstract

Russia is a major oil and natural gas producer and exporter. In the last two decades the nation's energy policy has gone through fundamental changes. This study examines Russia's oil and natural gas sectors and Moscow's energy policy with Europe and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. An examination of the nation's energy strategy is provided. The analysis suggests that Russia is likely to maintain its status as a major energy player; however, there are serious limitations on its potential.
