Prudential Supervision of Australian Banks

Abstract

This paper provides a description of the existing legislative basis for prudential supervision in Australia; traces the development of a more formal approach; and critically assess existing legislation and the bank examination process. Particular emphasis is devoted to the role of external auditors as quasi bank examiners. Copyright 1990 by The Economic Society of Australia.
