Schlusslicht Deutschland': Resultat institutioneller Verkrustungen?

Abstract

In einer radikalen Deregulierung des Arbeitsmarktes und tiefen Einschnitten in das System der sozialen Sicherung wird zumeist die einzige Möglichkeit gesehen, Deutschland aus seiner wirtschaftlichen „Schlusslichtposition“ zu manövrieren. Welche ökonomischen Argumente stehen hinter diesen Vorschlägen? Sind sie tatsächlich so zwingend und unbezweifelbar, wie überall behauptet wird? Wo steht Deutschland im internationalen Vergleich der Arbeitsmarkt- und Sozialstaatsinstitutionen? Helfen radikale Strukturreformen wirklich weiter? Welche makroökonomischen Ursachen hat die Krise?
