Einfluss der Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaktivitäten auf das Unternehmenswachstum in Österreich

Abstract

Die Forschungs- und Entwicklungsintensität der Unternehmen (Forschungs- und Entwicklungsausgaben in Relation zum Umsatz oder Anteil des Forschungs- und Entwicklungspersonals an den Beschäftigten) hat einen positiven und signifikanten Einfluss auf die Beschäftigungs- und Umsatzentwicklung in den darauf folgenden zwei Jahren, wie die empirische Untersuchung mit Hilfe von Medianregressionen auf Basis von Unternehmensdaten des Forschungsförderungsfonds (FFG) zeigt. Im Zeitraum 1995/2006 bewirkte eine Steigerung der F&E-Intensität um 10% ceteris paribus eine Beschleunigung des Beschäftigungswachstums um 0,6 bis 1,8 Prozentpunkte pro Jahr, wobei der Effekt in jüngster Zeit abgenommen hat. F&E-Aktivitäten weisen zudem in schnell wachsenden Unternehmen eine höhere Wachstumswirksamkeit auf als in langsam wachsenden oder schrumpfenden Unternehmen.
