Financial Inclusion and Poverty Reduction in Ibadan Metropolis

Abstract

Nigeria has a low level of financial inclusion when compared to the rest of the world. Inclusion of the financial sector would not be able to help Nigerians lower their poverty rates or accelerate their economic growth. This study investigates the effect of fintech financial services on the poverty level of semi-urban areas of Ibadan metropolis, Oyo state. The study adopted a cross sectional survey research design. The data used in this study was collected through a structured questionnaire. The study populations are the dwellers in the semi-urban areas of Ibadan metropolis. The study used close ended self-structured questionnaire as research instrument. Data was analysed using the descriptive statistics consisting of simple percentages as well as Pearson moment correlation coefficient.
