Abstract

El principal objetivo de este trabajo consiste en evaluar el estado en el que quedó el municipio de Santa Lucía, Atlántico después dela inundación que se produjo como consecuencia de la ruptura del Canal del Dique, el 30 de noviembre de 2010. Con este fin se presentancifras relacionadas con los efectos que se generaron sobre las distintas dimensiones socioeconómicas, tanto del municipio comodel departamento, aparte de los esfuerzos encaminados a atender la emergencia invernal en el departamento del Atlántico, junto conindicadores asociados a los avances en la ejecución de los recursos asignados para superar la emergencia. La información recopiladapermite concluir que la inundación produjo un impacto sustancial sobre Santa Lucía, aumentando la pobreza que tradicionalmenteha caracterizado a esta subregión. En ese sentido, la atención de la emergencia constituye una excelente oportunidad para que SantaLucía abandone su histórica senda de pobreza y mejore el bienestar de sus habitantes.
