Abstract

In dem vorliegenden Artikel werden ausgewählte theoretische und empirische Aspekte des Zusammenhangs zwischen Existenzgründungen, staatlichem Handeln und Beschäftigung diskutiert. Dabei wird die Frage, ob Existenzgründungen zusätzliche Beschäftigung schaffen überwiegend aus einer volkswirtschaftlichen (und nicht aus einer sektoralen oder regionalen) Sicht beleuchtet werden. Zusammenfassend zeigen theoretische Überlegungen und eine in mancher Hinsicht noch lückenhafte empirische Evidenz die Bedeutung von Existenzgründungen für die Zahl der Beschäftigten auf. Die Möglichkeiten des Staates, durch die Förderung von Existenzgründungen die Beschäftigung zu steigern, scheinen jedoch begrenzt. Jedenfalls gibt es noch zu wenige empirische Hinweise dafür, dass die umfangreichen staatlichen Aktivitäten die Zahl der Beschäftigten in der Gesamtwirtschaft erhöht haben. --
