Regionale Innovationsmuster in Baden-Württemberg und Nordrhein-Westfalen: die Beispiele Maschinenbau und Automobilzulieferung

Abstract

Für ein differenziertes Verständnis erfolgreicher Innovationsstrategien und -systeme ist es erforderlich, regional und sektoral spezifische Muster in den Blick zu nehmen. Zudem gilt es, den Innovationsbegriff nicht auf den Bereich der Produktinnovation zu verengen, sondern auch innovative Dienstleistungen, technische Prozesse und Organisationsstrukturen einzubeziehen. Die Wettbewerbs- und Innovationsstrategien baden-württembergischer und nordrhein-westfälischer Betriebe sind durchaus unterschiedlich: Maschinenbaubetriebe und Automobilzulieferer aus BW setzen stärker auf eine Innovationsführerschaft im Wettbewerb und Produktinnovationen als Innovationsstrategie. Maschinenbaubetriebe aus NRW fokussieren dagegen eher auf Qualität und Flexibilität und Automobilzulieferer auf eine Preisführerschaft im Wettbewerb und beide stärker auf das Innovationsfeld technische Prozessinnovationen. Beim Angebot innovativer produktbegleitender Dienstleistungen sind Maschinenbaubetriebe inNRW aktiver als in BW, gleichwohl werden die Wertschöpfungspotenziale dieser kunden- und problemlösungsorientierten Innovations- und Differenzierungsstrategie noch nicht umfassend ausgeschöpft. Ähnliches gilt für innovative Organisationskonzepte, die jeweils nur von einem Fünftel bis einem Drittel der Betriebe in hohem Umfang genutzt werden.
