Forschermobilität und qualifizierte Zuwanderung in Deutschland und den USA: Eine Analyse aktueller nationaler Mikrodaten

Abstract

Zuwanderung hat im Wesentlichen aus zwei Gründen eine zunehmende Bedeutung für die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der deutschen Wirtschaft: die quantitative Versorgung der Wirtschaft mit Arbeitskräften sowie die Verbesserung der Innovationsfähigkeit. Das gestiegene öffentliche und auch wissenschaftliche Interesse an diesen beiden Aspekten stößt jedoch auf erhebliche methodische Einschränkungen. Insbesondere für europäische Länder besteht - anders als für die USA - hier noch erheblicher Forschungsbedarf. Diesem Problem soll in der vorliegenden Studie durch die explorative Auswertung nationaler Mikrodaten für Deutschland und durch einen Vergleich mit den USA begegnet werden.
