Abstract

Dos son los indicadores que tradicionalmente se vienen utilizando en econom�a para medir el capital humano: los a�os medidos de estudio de la poblaci�n y el tanto por ciento de la misma que ha completado un determinado nivel de estudios. Ambos dejan de lado muchos matices que se encuentran dentro del concepto de capital humano. En este trabajo se propone un nuevo indicador m�s eleborado, construido para una amplia muestra de ocheta y cuatro pa�ses y que tiene presente la educaci�n formal el informal, la experiencia laboral y la salud. Adem�s, se compara �ste con los �ndices tradicionales, examinando su bondad. Por �ltimo, se estudian las diferencias en las dotaciones de capital humano de diversos pa�ses europeos, Estados Unidos y Jap�n atendiendo a cada uno de los indicadores.
