Abstract

El sistema urbano de un espacio (nacional o regional) es el conjunto de ciudades, con su volumen y densidad demográfica, con determinada distancia entre ellas y dotación de infraestructuras de transportes y comunicaciones, que facilitan las relaciones sociales, económicas, etc. El sistema urbano no es un aspecto intranscendente para la dinámica económica, en la medida en que articula (mejor o peor) y potencia (más o menos) las actividades económicas, porque del sistema urbano depende la generación de "economías externas espaciales" (de aglomeración y ambientales).
