Abstract

The paper investigates how OSS development works according to the theory of modular systems and give an interpretation of some critical unsolved issues related to modularity, such as (i) the relationship between products modular traits and organizational structure set to produce them, (ii) the role of the designer of a modular architecture as problem solver (iii) how modularity copes with unforseen interdependences.
