Abstract

2002 sonrasinda yayilma marjinin etkisi yukselirken, 2008 yilindaki kuresel finansal kriz sonrasi donemde yayilma marjinin katkisinda azalma gozlenmistir. [EN] In this note, we explore the effects of new products and/or countries on Turkish manufacturing exports in 1993-2011 period. With this aim the extensive margins are calculated by using Kehoe and Ruhl (2009) methodology. In general, findings imply significant effect of the extensive margin on export growth. New countries play important role in the export growth to MENA whereas new products gained importance in the exports to the EU market. Contribution of the extensive margin seems to be increased during the period beginning from 2002, while it has slowed down after the global financial crisis in 2008.
