Rentabilite des entreprises sous controle canadien par rapport aux entreprises sous controle americain

    Abstract

    Dans le present document, nous examinons la courbe de rentabilite des grandes entreprises residant au Canada durant la periode de 1990 a 1998. Notre examen porte d'abord sur les differences entre la rentabilite des entreprises sous controle canadien et celle des entreprises sous controle americain et nous tachons de cerner les differences eventuelles entre les tendances du point de vue de la rentabilite selon le pays d'appartenance au cours du cycle economique durant les annees 90. Nous utilisons des donnees microeconomiques sur la rentabilite des grandes entreprises non integrees pour examiner le role joue par la part de marche dans la determination de la rentabilite des entreprises dans chaque groupe et la mesure dans laquelle les benefices qui s'ecartent de la moyenne sont ramenes rapidement ou lentement a leurs valeurs d'equilibre de long terme. Ces deux aspects du comportement relatif au benefice sont lies a la nature de la concurrence sur les marches desservis par les entreprises. Enfin, nous examinons le role joue par la variation du taux de change Canada E. U. dans la determination de la rentabilite afin de determiner dans quelle mesure chaque groupe rajuste ses prix a l'etranger en fonction de cette variation de maniere a influer sur les benefices declares au Canada.
