Abstract

La présente étude fournit une description des différents ensembles de données canadiennes qui pourraient être utilisés pour examiner des questions relatives au recours aux services de garde. Les ensembles de données nationales qui traitent des tendances de l'emploi, de l'emploi du temps, des revenus familiaux, du soutien social ainsi que des mesures de la santé des enfants, des adolescents et des adultes ont été inclus. On a conclu que de nombreuses questions demeurent sans réponse en ce qui concerne l'examen du rapport entre les tendances de l'emploi, le recours aux services de garde, les rôles et les responsabilités des familles et leur incidence sur la santé des familles. On a formulé des recommandations concernant l'information qui n'a pas été recueillie, mais qui pourrait s'avérée utile lorsqu'on aborde ces questions. En outre, nous avons conclu que les données d'enquête canadiennes existantes pourraient être utilisées pour aborder plusieurs questions relatives aux habitudes en matière de garde d'enfants ainsi qu'à l'incidence sur les enfants et les familles.
