Abstract

Alors que la tourmente financière sévit depuis l’année dernière et que le marché de l’immobilier connaît une crise sans précédent, le soutien des autorités monétaires et budgétaires à l’économie (baisse de 5,25 % à 2 % du taux objectif des Fed funds et plan de relance de 150 milliards de dollars) a permis jusqu’au deuxième trimestre d’atténuer les effets de la crise sur la croissance. Mais les effets de l’assouplissement monétaire sont gommés par la hausse des spreads et le plan de relance apparaît aujourd’hui comme un feu de paille. Dès le troisième trimestre, l’activité devrait refléter l’état des fondamentaux et supporter le poids des déséquilibres. Après les bonnes performances du premier semestre, l’économie pourrait entrer en récession dès l’été 2008. Après 2 % en 2007, la croissance atteindrait 1,4 % en 2008 et 0,4 % en 2009.
