Abstract

Après révision de la croissance au quatrième trimestre à 0,6 % après 0,9 % annoncé, le PIB aura progressé de 3,3 % en 2006. En dépit de la crise sur le marché de l’immobilier et d’un environnement monétaire plutôt restrictif, l’activité est donc restée plutôt bien orientée même si le ralentissement est engagé depuis le deuxième trimestre 2006 et s’étend progressivement à l’ensemble des composantes de la demande. Cette résistance commence à connaître des failles fin 2006. L’économie américaine vit à crédit depuis trop longtemps pour qu’elle en ignore aujourd’hui les conséquences. L’ajustement qui s’est opéré sur le marché de l’immobilier devrait s’approfondir en 2007 et entraîner un relâchement monétaire par la Réserve fédérale suffisant pour contenir la crise. Au final, la croissance devrait ralentir à 2 % en 2007 et repartir en 2008. Après 1,9 % fin 2007, la croissance terminerait l’année 2008 sur un rythme de 3 % l’an. [Premier paragraphe]
