Abstract

Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy, where one or more therapists treat a number of clients forming together one group. This term refers to any type of psychotherapy whether it is cognitive behavioral therapy, gestalt therapy, or psychodrama. The most important process that occurs as a changing mechanism is exploring and analyzing interpersonal relationships in the group. The concept of group therapy includes support groups, personal development groups, psycho-education etc. The theoretical study below includes all these aspects looking over the main peculiarities met in group work. More issues are developed in this material serving as a point of departure in analyzing the main theme, which is drawing a detailed approach of the therapy group's role in developing coping mechanisms among adults.
